Art from my niece Tierra

Loy and I went to visit my sister Debbie about a week ago and while we were there my niece Tierra made these wonderful pictures for me. The first one is a pumpkin singing and the second one is a picture of a baby in my tummy. I especially love the picture of the baby in my tummy because I got my tubes tied 13 years ago and I have regretted it ever since. I have no idea why because these teen years with my kids should make me regret ever having any kids at all. My other niece Natti asked me last night if I had a baby in my tummy too. I know I need to lose some weight but why are my nieces thinking I'm going to have a baby in my tummy. I told Natti last night "no I don't have a baby in my tummy But I wish I did. Why did you ask me that? Do you think I look like I have a baby in my tummy or were you just thinking about me having a baby?" Before I even finished my sentence she looked at my with a big huge smile and said "NNNNOOOOOOO! I was just thinking about it" Either Juli her mommy has taught her well to never make a girl think she looks fat even your Aunt who is a plump Grandma or she knows something along with Tierra that nobody else knows. HHhhhmmmmm.

Living With unbelieving children

Grief. That about sums up what it is like to live with unbelieving children. How do you go about teaching and training them up in the way they should go when they scoff and have unbelieving hard hearts. I don't know how to talk to them. We have nothing in common. A week ago I was instructing the kids on being patient and treating eachother kindly, one of my sons said, "ya, well we aren't Christian, we don't want to be like you" I was hurt. I probably sinned in my response. I was sarcastic and said " well I hope you aren't like me because I'm a girl and your a boy. And who says you have to be like me to be a Christian, you can be yourself and be a Christian, and who ever said anything about being a Christian anyway I was just talking about basic human ways to treat eachother." Then I can't remember what was said after that. I admit I took it personally until I realized that my sons statement was actually a positive one. My kids are selfish, self centered, flesh gratifying, blind, dead in their sin people. No wonder they don't want to be like me! I stand against everything their fleshly unbelieving foolish hard hearts want. Every day brings grief at the reality of their condition and the failure of my feeble attempts to lead them to the Lord it seems the more I try the farther they want to get from God......BUT GOD.......is sovereign, He wakes the dead and He gives sight to the blind. It is God who saves. My childrens salvation will be to Gods glory because I have failed I cant do it. If they one day believe it will have nothing to do with my mothering or my teaching and instruction it will only be because of Gods grace and mercy.

How not to stumble

Jesus has given us everything we need in abundance for life and godliness. For those who have been called He has given us the faith to believe. Peter reminds us to add to that faith by being diligent in moral excellence. Then in that moral excellence add knowledge. In that knowledge add self control, and in your self control, perseverance, and in your perseverance, godliness, and in your godliness add brotherly kindness, and in your brotherly kindness add love. If these qualities are ours and are increasing by our diligent obedience to Jesus we will never be useless or unfruitful in the true knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. So be diligent to make certain of His calling and choosing you, because as long as you practice these things, you will never stumble. Never.... Amen.
