One Week of Grace

Pictures from Grace's first week out of the womb.
At the hospital prior to going into labor.

Grandma holding baby Grace just after her birth.

Daddy holding Grace during her hearing test (she was asleep).

Big sister Valarie looking pretty comfortable with her little sister.

Just hanging out with my Daddy.

Mommy and Grace together.

She hates the car seat (getting ready to leave the hospital)!

The booties with a story that was known only to God before Grace was born.

Sweet, sweet baby girl.

Grace in the English family cradle that Jennifer is letting me use.

She still hates the car seat (going back to the hospital for a bilirubin test).

Sooo sweet.

Cousin Renee holding Grace for the first time.

"Bring My sons from afar and My daughters from the ends of the earth,
Everyone who is called by My name,
And whom I have created for My glory,
Whom I have formed, even whom I have made."
Isaiah 43:6b-7
For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother's womb.
I will give thanks to You, for I am
fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are your works,
And my soul knows it well.
My frame was not hidden from You,
When I was made in secret,
And skillfully wrought in the depths of
the earth;
Your eyes have seen my unformed substance;
And in Your book were all written
The days that were ordained for me,
When as yet there was not one of them.
How precious also are Your thoughts to me,
O God!
Psalm 139:13-17a

Grace - due today!

In His infinite wisdom, God brought forth baby Grace one week early. We were scheduled to go in for an induction today if labor didn't start prior. But, we, and many of our brothers and sisters in Christ, prayed that the Lord would bring her forth prior to today so that labor wouldn't need to be induced. The Lord Jesus answered our prayers and according to His will, He brought Grace forth at the most perfect time (God only does what is most perfect).

So far, Grace is doing well. We are about to leave for the hospital for yet another bilirubin test and weight check. Please pray that the Lord Jesus would heal baby Grace of her jaundice. Her levels have been borderline since birth but have not reached the point where special treatment is necessary.

As you go forth today, think of all that God has done for you and thank Him for all of His blessings. After all, what do you have that you haven't received (1 Cor. 4:7)?

Grace waking up from a nap.

Dads should change as many diapers as they can.

And, they should make sure their precious brides, who are new mommies, get plenty of sleep.

Grace! Grace! Grace!

Grace is here! Our precious baby Grace came into the world, most fittingly, on Resurrection Sunday. God has poured out yet another blessing upon us, a pair of His most undeserving children. He is so merciful to us and kind to us. We are living proof of the goodness of God and of His great grace towards men. As you look at these pictures of our Grace, we hope that you will consider His grace in that He gave His only Son that we might have life in His name and by His grace. May the Lord Jesus bless you as you do so.

Grace just born

What's going on out here?

First diaper change

Look at those lips!

Awww...

Daddy's feet

Going to my new home. It sure is bright outside!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In His great mercy, He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Do not be unbelieving but believe! With God nothing is impossible!

We are thankful for the great blessing of having a new birth in our lives. God's plan before the foundation of the world was to bring our baby Grace forth at just this time and in just this way. What we had thought impossible, in the fullness of time, God did. All the praise belongs to Him and Him alone! Thank you, Father, for pouring out Your grace upon us. We also are thankful to our dear brothers and sisters in the Lord that have offered up countless prayers on our behalf.

By grace, it is in Christ alone that we put our trust.

Grace space

Here are pictures of Grace's spaces and things so far...
Old painted wood mobile I found a long time ago.
I found this before my tubal reversal.
I'm using it as a decoration by her changing table.
Grace's changing table and my dresser.
You have to be creative when your room is the nursery too.

This was my dress when I was a baby.
I'm thinking of bringing Grace home from the hospital in this dress

I am so loving crochet baby clothes and blankets.
Here are Grace's sweaters.
I found all of these at thrift stores,
except the second one Julia gave me to use.
It was Maggie's I think.

Here are some of her clothes.

Thrift store finds.

The flower one in the middle is from a friend at church though...
I do have some new things.

Loy and I found this at the antique store.

It was only $4.50!!

I would love to dress Grace in old fashion clothes.
I think they are so cute.
The only problem is that they are so delicate.
Here is a close up of the detail on the antique jumper

We also found these adorable shoes the same day

And also these. These have open toes, how cute is that!!

Another vintage dress with dainty embroidery

Love the vintage clothes!

Cotton candy blanket

Grace's blankets so far...
Some Julia gave me, one is from Annika and the rest -
thrift stores of course!

These are a treasure I'm so glad I saved them.
These are original jellies.
These were Annika's when she was a baby.
Another fantastic find.
We knew we wanted a good comfortable rocking chair
so we came to the conclusion that the glider rocker
would probably be our biggest expense.
The cheap uncomfortable new glider rockers are around $200.00.
Well, I found this at Salvation Army for only $60.00!
It is much more sturdy than the new ones,
and it is in new condition and very comfortable!
God is so good and is constantly providing for us!
I'm very thankful for this chair He provided!
Look how it hugs your back! Look at the nice new full cushions!

The cushion in the middle at the top is like a pillow,
it fits right at the back of my neck.
It is so cozy. I'm sure I'll be falling asleep in this rocker allot!
I guess these would be my colors for her.
1930's reproduction fabrics.
Really I like all the pastel colors.
Candy shop, that's the theme or the method to my madness I guess.
I made this years ago just for practice when I first started quilting.
I was going to make a crib blanket out of it for Grace when I found it in my sewing stuff
but, I remembered that the muslin backing I used shrinks like the old shrinky dinks
so it has to be a decoration because it can never be washed.
The quilt hanging on the crib is the one I won at a sewing group I went to with my mom.
My mom and I both made one of the blocks in this quilt.
It's kind of big for a baby crib quilt. What you see is only half of it but it will work I think.

I got a soft bumper. Also the quilt folded in half in the crib.

I found these new pink fake silk curtains at Target. Rachael Ashwell's Shabby chic , my favorite!
I love them. We had to put something less see through than the lace ones I had before.
They still let in more light than I wanted but it is much better.
View from across the room

Close up of the soft bumper and one of the sheets I got.
I keep changing the sheet on the mattress every time
I find a new one I like even more then the last cute one I found!

I never thought her crib would end up mostly green. It all started with the green crib skirt. I got it at Goodwill for only $3.99 so it was what started the whole look. The skirt fabric matches the reproduction 1930's fabric so that's why I dug out my old sewing stuff and it all just kind of came together this way. After I had put this all together I found Target has pink rosebud sheets. The Rachel Ashwell shabby chic line which I LOVE so I splurged and got a white bumper pad, a white crib skirt, and the rose bud sheets. I'll take pictures of it when I get it put together. So now I have two looks for her crib and extra of each thing just in case she spits up or whatever else she might do and I have to wash one set.
I found this on ebay, I love it! I like old things much better than new!
I love the sweet angels and the baby blue and pink colors.
It is missing the music box which is a bummer but it still looks nice.
I also learned I can put text on my pictures so I played around with that.
Isn't she cute?

sweet

I love girlie things!

Hello

Here is the rose bud sheet

We are going to be in big trouble if Grace comes out Micah!!
